HeartSine Samaritan vs HeartHero Elliot: Which AED Is Right for You?
Both units deliver the same paramedic-backed expertise and support. Your selection depends on the environment you're protecting, how your team will use it, and the specific operational features you require.
Integrity Health & Safety is an Indigenous-owned business founded by two intensive care paramedics with Australian Defence Force service. We are an authorised HeartSine and HeartHero distributor, Supply Nation certified, and members of the Australian Sudden Cardiac Arrest Alliance.
Both the HeartSine Samaritan 500P and the HeartHero Elliot are Publicly Accessible Defibrillators (PADs) - designed for use by any bystander, with or without training. The SAM 500P adds real-time CPR feedback through its integrated CPR Advisor. Every purchase supports our Social Impact Commitment: scholarships for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nurses.
Our Supply Nation certification, membership of the Australian Sudden Cardiac Arrest Alliance and appointment to South Australia's Whole of Government Defibrillator Panel mean our advice is independently verified. We recommend the right device for your situation, whether that is the SAM 500P, the Elliot, or something else in our range.
The Two AEDs We Are Comparing
Both are paramedic-endorsed and stocked by Integrity Health & Safety. They sit at different points in the range because they solve different problems. The product cards below summarise each one. The sections further down explain where each performs best.
HeartHero Elliot Fully Automatic Defibrillator
$1,395.00
The lightest fully automatic AED available at 680 g with battery and pads. IP66 rated, operable between -20 and 50 degrees C. One pull of the red handle deploys pre-connected pads and starts voice guidance. Bluetooth and LTE connect to the HeartHero App. Six-year warranty.
A semi-automatic AED with integrated CPR Advisor that measures compression depth and rate directly through the defibrillator electrodes - no additional puck or sensor required. SCOPE biphasic escalating waveform. 1.1 kg, IP56, four-year Pad-Pak combining battery and electrodes in one cartridge.
Every minute without defibrillation reduces survival odds by ten per cent for Australia's 25,000 annual sudden cardiac arrests. The HeartSine SAM 500P emphasises simplicity and lightweight design, while the HeartHero Elliot prioritises comprehensive CPR guidance and adaptive protocols.

Two capable AEDs, different CPR guidance approaches
The HeartHero Elliot uses a built-in metronome and voice prompts to guide CPR pace. The HeartSine SAM 500P goes further with its CPR Advisor, measuring actual compression depth and rate through the defibrillator electrodes and giving real-time feedback - push harder, push faster, or confirming good compressions - without any additional sensor.
Different weights and form factors for different use cases
The HeartHero Elliot weighs 680 g and fits in a gym bag, glovebox or backpack. The HeartSine SAM 500P weighs 1.1 kg and has a compact footprint - up to 56 per cent smaller than comparable AEDs - making it well suited to wall mounting or desk placement. Both are IP rated for dust and water resistance.
Different consumable maintenance approaches
The HeartHero Elliot uses separate pads (5.5-year shelf life) and CR123 batteries (3-year standby), managed through the HeartHero App. The HeartSine SAM 500P uses a Pad-Pak: an integrated battery and electrode cartridge with one expiry date, replaced every four years as a single unit. Both approaches have merit depending on how your maintenance processes work.
Compliance support
From 1 January 2026, South Australian private sector workplaces must have a defibrillator. Both the HeartSine SAM 500P and the HeartHero Elliot are TGA listed and meet the legislative requirement. We can help you assess which suits your site, document placement and provide staff familiarisation.
Competitive Pricing
The HeartHero Elliot is $1,395 with free shipping and a 6-year warranty. The HeartSine SAM 500P uses a Pad-Pak with a single four-year expiry, simplifying consumable management. Both are priced competitively for their feature sets. Our team can provide a full cost-of-ownership comparison based on your site requirements.
Which should you choose: HeartSine SAM 500P or HeartHero Elliot?
Ask yourself three questions. Do you need real-time CPR compression feedback, not just a metronome? If yes, the SAM 500P is the answer. Will the device live in one fixed location and be used by a team? The SAM 500P suits that. Does it need to travel with a person, live in a vehicle or be carried in a bag? The Elliot is the better fit. If the answer is mixed across your locations, many organisations run both.
HeartHero Elliot - 680 g, fully automatic, IP66, 6-year warranty. Personal carry, vehicles and home use.
HeartSine SAM 500P - 1.1 kg, semi-automatic, IP56, integrated CPR Advisor, four-year Pad-Pak. Fixed workplace and institutional locations.
Many organisations use both. The Elliot travels with staff, lives in vehicles and covers personal use. The SAM 500P sits on the wall at the main site where CPR coaching matters. Our team can help you work out the right split across your locations.
Still not sure? That is exactly what our paramedic-led team is here for. We will ask the right questions about your site, your team and your budget, and give you a clear recommendation at no cost and with no obligation.
In line with our commitments towards Indigenous enterprise engagement we selected Integrity Health & Safety to supply our defibrillators. Their professional advice, fast service and competitive pricing made the decision easy.'

Frequently asked questions
What is the key difference between the HeartSine SAM 500P and the HeartHero Elliot?
Which is easier to use for an untrained bystander, the SAM 500P or the Elliot?
What are the weight and size differences between the SAM 500P and the Elliot?
What consumable maintenance does each device require?
Can I buy both the HeartSine SAM 500P and the HeartHero Elliot from Integrity Health & Safety?
The CPR guidance technology. The Elliot uses a built-in metronome and voice prompts to help the rescuer maintain the correct compression rate. The SAM 500P's CPR Advisor goes further by measuring actual compression depth and rate through the defibrillator electrodes using impedance cardiography, then giving specific verbal feedback: push harder, push faster, or confirming good compressions. It does this without any separate sensor, puck or chest device. If CPR quality matters as much as the shock, the SAM 500P has the technical edge on that specific point.
Both are designed for untrained bystanders. The HeartHero Elliot is fully automatic - it delivers a shock without any button press, which removes one decision point under stress. The SAM 500P is semi-automatic: it advises a shock and the rescuer presses the button to deliver it. Both use clear voice prompts and visual cues throughout. Training is recommended for either device to build confidence, and we provide free familiarisation with every purchase.
The HeartHero Elliot weighs 680 g and measures 16 cm x 15.5 cm x 4.3 cm - light enough to carry in a gym bag, glovebox or backpack. The HeartSine SAM 500P weighs 1.1 kg and measures 20 cm x 18.4 cm x 4.8 cm, with a footprint up to 56 per cent smaller than comparable AEDs. Both are compact relative to their respective categories. The Elliot is the better portable option; the SAM 500P is the better fixed-location option.
The HeartHero Elliot uses separate consumables: electrode pads with a 5.5-year shelf life and four CR123 Duracell batteries with a 3-year standby life, managed through the HeartHero App. The HeartSine SAM 500P uses a Pad-Pak that combines battery and electrodes in one cartridge with a single four-year expiry date. One maintenance change every four years covers both. The Pad-Pak approach is simpler for facilities with many devices to track.
Yes. We are an authorised distributor for both HeartSine and HeartHero products. Many organisations use a mix: the Elliot for vehicles, personal carry and home use, and the SAM 500P for fixed workplace locations where CPR feedback is valued. Free shipping, free familiarisation training and ongoing paramedic-led support are included with every purchase.
