LIFEPAK CR2 modes

LIFEPAK CR2 semi vs fully automatic: the only difference is the shock button

Identical hardware, identical battery and pads. The mode decides whether a person presses shock.

The LIFEPAK CR2 Essential, the fully automatic build we hold in stock. The semi automatic build is the same unit.

You have already picked the defibrillator. What is still open is the build, and the LIFEPAK CR2 semi vs fully automatic question is the last box on the order form. It catches people out because our shop lists the fully automatic unit and nothing else, which reads as though the semi automatic version has been discontinued. It has not. Both builds are the same LIFEPAK CR2, from the same maker, with the same battery, the same pads and the same eight-year warranty. One of them hands the shock decision to the machine. The other hands it to whoever is kneeling on the floor.

What is the difference between the semi and fully automatic LIFEPAK CR2?

Both are the same 2 kg LIFEPAK CR2, with the same IP55 rating, eight-year warranty, child mode button and four-year battery and pads. The fully automatic build delivers the shock itself once it has advised one. The semi automatic build charges, then waits for the rescuer to press the shock button.

Fully automatic, in stock online

This is the build we keep on the shelf. It suits a foyer, a gym floor, a shop or a school, where the person who reaches the unit first could be anyone and has probably never opened one before.

  • Nobody has to press shockFully automatic means the unit reads the heart rhythm, warns everyone to stand clear and delivers the shock itself. There is no button for a frightened bystander to hesitate over.
  • Compressions do not have to stopThe CR2 analyses the heart rhythm while chest compressions carry on, so the rescuer is not asked to lift their hands and wait while the machine thinks.
  • Heard over a noisy roomClearVoice listens to the background noise and lifts its own volume to match, so the spoken instructions still land in a plant room, a busy gym or a crowd.
  • Pads come away with the baseQUIK-STEP electrodes peel off the base of the unit, so replacing them after a rescue or at the four-year mark is quick and hard to get wrong.
  • Adults and children on one buttonA child mode button drops the shock energy for a child aged 1 to 8, or under 25 kg. The same pads stay in place, so there is no second pad set to buy or find.

LIFEPAK CR2 Defibrillator Semi Automatic

Semi automatic, ordered by phone

Every LIFEPAK CR2 is also built as a semi automatic unit, ordered on 1300 720 024 rather than through the shop. It suits workplaces whose emergency procedure names a trained first aid officer as the person who calls the shock.

  • Your rescuer keeps the shock decisionSemi automatic means the unit advises the shock and charges, then waits for a person to press the shock button. Many first aid courses and safety procedures are written around that step.
  • The same unit in every other respect2 kg, 22.6 x 22.6 x 9.7 cm and IP55 rated, which means protected from dust and from water sprayed from any direction. The warranty is eight years either way.
  • One battery and one pad set for the fleetThe CR2 lithium battery and the CR2 replacement pads fit every CR2, semi or fully automatic, so a site running both builds keeps one spare of each.
  • Same coaching, same child modeClearVoice, the CPR prompts and the child mode button for ages 1 to 8 or under 25 kg all work exactly as they do on the fully automatic unit.
  • One phone call to order itThe semi automatic build is not listed in the shop. Ring us, tell us how many you need, and we will quote it and ship it anywhere in Australia.

Shock delivery leads, because it is the only row where the two builds part company. Everything under it is shared hardware, right down to the LIFEPAK CR2 battery in the back of the unit.

Which build suits the person who will reach it first

Picture the worst day at your site and picture who is holding the unit. That answers this faster than any specification does.

The foyer, shop floor or gym

The rescuer might be a customer, a contractor or a casual on their second shift. They have never seen the inside of a defibrillator and they are being watched by a crowd.

Choose the fully automatic CR2. Taking the shock button away removes the one moment where an untrained person is most likely to freeze.

The workplace with a first aid roster

Your emergency procedure names a trained officer, your team refreshes its CPR every year, and the unit they practised on has a shock button. Changing that in a real event is not something you want to discover on the day.

Choose the semi automatic CR2. It matches the procedure and the training your people already have, and it orders on one phone call.

The school, childcare centre or swimming club

The patient could be an adult or a child, the room is full of children, and the teacher who gets there first is managing both at once.

Choose the fully automatic CR2. The child mode button handles the energy, the unit handles the shock, and the adult in the room is left with the job of doing good compressions.

Still narrowing down the CR2 range? Our LIFEPAK CR2 Wi-Fi vs non Wi-Fi page covers readiness reporting, and our LIFEPAK vs Elliot page sets the CR2 beside the lightest unit we stock.

What buyers ask us about the two CR2 builds

Is the LIFEPAK CR2 semi automatic or fully automatic?

Both. The LIFEPAK CR2 is built in a fully automatic version and a semi automatic version, and the hardware inside is the same. Integrity HS stocks the fully automatic build, which delivers the shock itself. The semi automatic build, where the rescuer presses the shock button, is available on request. Call 1300 720 024 and we will quote it.

Why is there no price shown for the semi automatic CR2?

Because it is not a stocked line. Our shop lists the fully automatic LIFEPAK CR2 Essential Non WIFI at $2,295, with free shipping. The semi automatic build is ordered in, so it carries no published price and we quote it per order. Ring 1300 720 024 with the quantity you need.

Do the same battery and pads fit both LIFEPAK CR2 builds?

Yes. The LIFEPAK CR2 lithium battery at $325.82 and the LIFEPAK CR2 replacement pads at $178 fit every CR2, semi automatic or fully automatic, and the pads cover adults and children. Both carry a four-year life. A site running a mix of builds only needs one spare battery and one spare pad set on the shelf.

Can CPR continue while the LIFEPAK CR2 analyses the heart rhythm?

Yes, and it works the same way in both builds. The LIFEPAK CR2 analyses the heart rhythm while chest compressions carry on, so the rescuer is not told to stop and stand back while the unit decides. The CR2 also coaches the rescuer through the compressions, and ClearVoice raises the volume of the prompts when the room is noisy.

What does it cost to keep a LIFEPAK CR2 ready to use?

Two items on a four-year cycle, whichever build you own. The battery is $325.82 and the replacement pads are $178, and the unit runs its own checks in between. Pads are also replaced after any rescue. Integrity HS will audit the defibrillators, batteries and pads you already hold at no charge.
