Sudden cardiac arrest doesn’t discriminate.
According to Hollywood Life, Bob Odenkirk, the 59 year-old star of the long-running TV series, Better Call Saul, suffered a heart attack while filming on set in Albuquerque, USA, a few months ago.
The crew immediately started giving him CPR and an on-set defibrillator was used with only the third shock bringing back his pulse.
Bob had already seen two heart doctors about plaque build-up, with no decision taken for him to medicate.
Luckily, swift-acting crew and a nearby defibrillator saved his life… which will give us the opportunity to enjoy the 6th and final season of the popular Breaking Bad spinoff.
Consider what you could miss if a loved one, colleague, customer, teammate… wasn’t as fortunate in having CPR and a nearby defibrillator applied after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest.
Deploying adequate defibrillators, together with CPR, is the least you should do to enhance the victim’s chances of survival. You shouldn’t solely rely on paramedics arriving in time or the availability of a nearby hospital.
As Bob Odenkirk’s character, Jimmy McGill, said: “Perfection is the enemy of perfectly adequate.”
