LIFEPAK CR2 Replacement Pads. One set treats adults and children.

The pads on your LIFEPAK CR2 are the one part of the unit that gets used up. Either they went onto someone's chest during a rescue, or the date printed on the pack has come around, and either way the defibrillator is not ready until a fresh set is fitted. The good news is that LIFEPAK CR2 pads are a single product for every CR2 model and every patient, and the swap is meant to be done by whoever looks after the unit, not by a technician. Below is what to order, what it costs, and when the battery should go in the same order.

Which pads does a LIFEPAK CR2 take?

Every LIFEPAK CR2, whether Essential, WIFI or 4G, fully or semi automatic, uses the same LIFEPAK CR2 Replacement Pads, $178. One set treats adults and children, because the unit's child mode button lowers the shock energy instead of needing smaller pads. The pads have a four-year shelf life and are single use.

LIFEPAK CR2 Replacement Pads

One set of electrodes for every CR2 and every patient

These suit any CR2 owner: the workplace that has just used its unit, the club whose pads are approaching their date, and the fleet manager keeping a spare set on the shelf. The manufacturer part number is 11101-000021.

  • Adults and children from one packThere is no separate paediatric set to buy or store. For a child aged 1 to 8 or under 25 kg, press the child mode button on the CR2 and it lowers the shock energy through the same pads.
  • Peel off and press onQUIK-STEP electrodes peel straight off their base, so fitting a new set to the unit, or getting them onto a patient, takes seconds rather than fumbling with packaging.
  • Four years on the shelfEach set carries a four-year shelf life, and the manufacturer says to replace pads every four years even if they have never been opened, so an unused set has a known replacement date.
  • Fits every CR2 in the rangeEssential, WIFI or 4G, fully automatic or semi automatic, they all take this one set. A site with mixed CR2 models only needs one kind of spare.
  • CPR does not stop for analysisThrough these electrodes the CR2 runs cprINSIGHT, reading the heart rhythm while compressions continue, so the rescuer is not told to stop and wait.

LIFEPAK CR2 Lithium Battery

The partner replacement, on the same four-year cycle

The battery suits the owner whose CR2 has passed the four-year mark, whose unit has flagged a low battery, or who is replacing pads and would rather reset both dates at once. The manufacturer part number is 11141-000165.

  • Four years between changesA new battery gives the CR2 four years of standby, so it lines up with the pads and the two can share one reminder in the calendar.
  • Plenty in reserve for a rescueA full battery holds 166 shocks at 200 joules or 103 at 360 joules. A single rescue uses a handful, so one event rarely means a new battery.
  • Warns you before it is emptyWhen the low battery warning appears, the unit still has 30 minutes of operation and six shocks left, which is time to order a replacement, not a reason to panic.
  • One battery for every CR2Fits the Essential, WIFI and 4G units, and both the fully automatic and semi automatic versions, so a mixed fleet carries one spare.
  • Nothing to plug inThe CR2 runs entirely from this battery, so the unit can hang on a wall or ride in a vehicle with no charger or power point to think about.

LIFEPAK CR2 pads and battery, side by side

Fit and life lead, because those are the two questions behind almost every order. Neither part is the more important one. The unit needs both in date.

Which one do you need

Three situations account for nearly every CR2 consumables order we take. Find yours and the order writes itself.

The unit has just been used

Once pads have been on a patient they are finished, whether or not a shock was delivered. The CR2 cannot go back on the wall as ready until a new set is fitted, and that gap is the risk.

Choose the pads. At $178 they are the part a rescue always consumes. The battery holds up to 166 shocks, so check it, but one event rarely drains it.

The date on the pack has come around

Four years pass quickly. Unopened LIFEPAK CR2 pads reach the end of their shelf life sitting inside the unit, and a passed expiry date is the most common reason a CR2 quietly stops being ready.

Choose the pads. If the battery went in at the same time, it is on the same four-year cycle, so check its date before you close the order.

The unit is warning about the battery, or it is four years old

A low battery warning leaves 30 minutes and six shocks, enough for a rescue but not for another year on the wall. A battery fitted four years ago is due whether it has warned you or not.

Choose the battery and the pads together. Replacing both at once resets both dates to the ones printed on the new parts, and $503.82 covers the pair.

Reordering for the battery on its own, or checking what a whole fleet needs? Our LIFEPAK CR2 battery page goes deeper on shock capacity and timing, and our AED pads page covers the electrodes for every defibrillator we stock. One CR2 set covers adults and children, and our adult vs paediatric defibrillator pads page explains when a separate paediatric set is needed.

Why buy from Integrity HS

Questions CR2 owners ask about pads and batteries

Can LIFEPAK CR2 pads be used on a child?

Yes. The LIFEPAK CR2 uses one set of pads for adults and children. For a child aged 1 to 8, or weighing under 25 kg, apply the same pads and press the child mode button on the unit, which lowers the shock energy. There is no paediatric pad set to buy, store or find in a hurry, which is one less thing to go wrong during a rescue.

How often do LIFEPAK CR2 pads need to be replaced?

Every four years if unused, and after every use regardless of age. The pads carry a four-year shelf life, and the manufacturer brochure says to replace them every four years. Once a set has been applied to a patient it is single use and must be replaced, even if the unit did not deliver a shock. Check the date printed on the pack whenever you check the unit.

Do the same pads fit the CR2 Essential, WIFI and 4G?

Yes. All three LIFEPAK CR2 models, and both the fully automatic and semi automatic versions, take the same replacement pads, manufacturer part number 11101-000021. The same is true of the lithium battery, part number 11141-000165. An organisation running several CR2 units of different types needs only one kind of spare pads and one kind of spare battery on the shelf.

What does QUIK-STEP mean on the CR2 pads?

QUIK-STEP is the manufacturer's name for the way the CR2 electrodes are packaged. The pads peel straight off their base, which is what makes both jobs quick: fitting a new set to the unit after a replacement, and getting the pads onto a patient during a rescue. It is a small design detail, but it saves seconds at the moment when the person doing it is under the most pressure.

Should the CR2 battery be replaced at the same time as the pads?

Often, yes. Both parts run on a four-year cycle: the pads have a four-year shelf life and a new battery gives four years of standby. If they were fitted together they fall due together. If the battery is younger, check it rather than replace it. A fresh battery holds 166 shocks at 200 joules, and after the low battery warning it still has 30 minutes and six shocks in reserve. The battery is $325.82.
