Connected defibrillators

Mindray vs LIFEPAK defibrillator: the two units that check themselves

Both are 4G connected, IP55 rated and covered for eight years. The difference is the network behind them.

The Mindray C1A 4G Connected, 2.3 kg, supplied with a free eight-year data plan.

Two connected defibrillators, $550 apart, and both promise to tell you when something is wrong. Most people who search Mindray vs LIFEPAK defibrillator are past the question of whether they need a defibrillator at all. They are working out which monitoring system they can live with for the next eight years. Integrity HS supplies both, and the hardware is closer than the price gap suggests. The real difference sits in what each unit does while nobody is watching it, and in how fast it reaches the first shock when someone finally is.

What is the difference between a Mindray and a LIFEPAK defibrillator?

Both are fully automatic, IP55 rated and covered for eight years. The Mindray C1A 4G Connected delivers its first shock in under eight seconds and adds a free eight-year data plan with five-year consumables. The LIFEPAK CR2 4G Cellular reports to LIFELINKcentral with data held in Australia and uses four-year consumables. $2,345 and $2,895.

Mindray C1A 4G Connected Defibrillator

Connected, with the data plan included

The C1A 4G suits an organisation with units spread across sites that nobody visits weekly. Depots, remote offices, plant rooms and vehicle fleets, where the monthly walk-around check is the thing most likely to be skipped.

  • The data plan is already paid forMindray includes a free 4G data plan for eight years, so the unit stays online without a separate SIM to arrange or renew.
  • First shock in under eight secondsQShock gets from switch on to the first shock in under eight seconds, and the unit raises the energy on later shocks if the heart does not respond.
  • Five years between consumable changesBattery and pads both run to five years. The MR62 pads are universal, so one pair covers adults and children and the unit identifies which it has.
  • Coaching pitched at the person holding itResQNavi gives real-time voice and on-screen guidance that adjusts to the pace and experience of whoever is doing the compressions.
  • Self-tests instead of walk-aroundsAED-Alert 2.0 runs the checks and sends fault notices, replacement reminders and a geolocation alert if the unit moves. Eight-year warranty, IP55 rated against dust and sprayed water.

LIFEPAK CR2 Fully Automatic 4G Cellular AED

Connected, with your data kept in Australia

The CR2 4G suits buyers who have to answer questions about where information is held and who can see it. Government departments, hospitals, universities and large employers with a first aid roster and a compliance team behind it.

  • Readiness data that stays onshoreThe unit reports to LIFELINKcentral over cellular and Wi-Fi, and all of that data is stored in Australia. That answers the question procurement usually asks first.
  • Nobody has to stop compressionscprINSIGHT reads the heart rhythm while CPR carries on, so chest compressions do not pause for analysis. After CPR the shock follows in under 13 seconds.
  • It tells the rescuer how hard to pushcprCOACH gives feedback on compression technique and depth, which is what a trained first aid officer wants measured rather than guessed.
  • Adults and children on one buttonA child mode button drops the shock to between 35 and 90 joules for ages 1 to 8 or under 25 kg, with no pads to change. Adult energy runs from 150 to 360 joules.
  • It raises its hand before you doReal-time alerts when it is used or needs service, automatic expiry tracking, and a warning if it leaves a set radius. Eight-year warranty, IP55, and software updates arrive remotely.

Where each connected unit earns its keep

Connection is only worth paying for if it solves a problem you actually have. Three situations cover most of the calls we take.

Sites nobody walks past every week

A depot two hours out, a pump station, a site office that opens three days a fortnight. The unit is fine until the day it is not, and the monthly check was signed off by someone who never left the car.

Choose the Mindray C1A 4G. Its self-tests replace the visual inspection, the data plan is already paid for eight years, and five-year consumables mean fewer trips out there.

Government and enterprise procurement

The safety case is settled and the questions have moved on to data. Where is it held, who can read it, and what happens to it when a unit is used on a member of the public.

Choose the LIFEPAK CR2 4G. It reports to LIFELINKcentral and all of that data is stored in Australia, which is a short answer to a long procurement form.

When an untrained bystander gets there first

A retail floor, a club, a reception area. Whoever picks the unit up has probably never opened one, and the first minute will be spent reading instructions rather than treating anyone.

Choose the Mindray C1A 4G. QShock reaches the first shock in under eight seconds, and ResQNavi pitches its prompts at someone with no experience.

Still shortlisting brands? Our Mindray vs ZOLL defibrillator page puts the same C1A against the ZOLL AED 3, and our Mindray vs Elliot page brings the lightest unit we stock into it. If the connection is not worth paying for at your sites, the biphasic vs monophasic defibrillator page compares the non-connected C1A with the CR2 Essential.

Questions buyers ask about connected defibrillators

Do these connected defibrillators need a monthly subscription?

The Mindray C1A 4G Connected comes with a free 4G data plan that runs for eight years, so there is nothing to arrange after the purchase. The LIFEPAK CR2 4G Cellular connects over cellular and Wi-Fi to LIFELINKcentral, the manufacturer's AED program manager. Call Integrity HS on 1300 720 024 and we will confirm exactly what that looks like for your sites before you order.

Where is the data from a connected defibrillator stored?

For the LIFEPAK CR2 4G Cellular, all data is stored in Australia. That covers readiness reporting, use notifications, expiry tracking and geolocation through LIFELINKcentral. The Mindray C1A 4G reports to the AED-Alert 2.0 dashboard, and its product page does not state where that data is held, so ask us and we will get it confirmed in writing rather than guess.

How often do you replace the battery and pads on each unit?

The Mindray C1A runs five years on both battery and pads. A C Series battery is $395 and a pair of universal MR62 pads is $120. The LIFEPAK CR2 runs four years on both. A CR2 lithium battery is $325.82 and a set of replacement pads is $178. Both units track their own expiry dates and remind you.

Can a Mindray or a LIFEPAK defibrillator be used on a child?

Yes, both. Each unit has a child mode button that lowers the shock to between 35 and 90 joules, and neither needs a separate set of paediatric pads. The LIFEPAK CR2 sets child mode for ages 1 to 8 or under 25 kg. The Mindray uses universal MR62 pads that the unit identifies on its own. That is one less consumable to stock and one less thing to get wrong under pressure.

Are the Mindray C1A and LIFEPAK CR2 available in semi automatic?

Yes. Both are sold here as fully automatic, which means the unit delivers the shock itself. Semi automatic versions of each are available on request, and semi automatic means a rescuer has to press the shock button when the unit says to. Some workplace policies require it. No semi automatic price is published, so call 1300 720 024 for pricing and availability.
