Mindray vs ZOLL defibrillator: let the unit do the checking for you

One reports over 4G on a free eight-year data plan. The other reports over your site Wi-Fi.

Mindray BeneHeart C1A defibrillator with its lid closed and the status indicator showing
The Mindray C1A. The 4G version reports its own status through AED-Alert 2.0.

Somebody at your site is meant to walk round every defibrillator once a month, look at the indicator, and write the date in a log. That job slips. Then an audit asks for the records and nobody can say for certain when the pads were last checked. The Mindray vs ZOLL defibrillator question almost always starts there, because both of these units report their own readiness instead of waiting for a person to notice. The difference is how they get that message out, and what they do for the rescuer.

What is the difference between a Mindray and a ZOLL defibrillator?

The Mindray C1A 4G reports over its own mobile connection, with a free eight-year data plan, to the AED-Alert 2.0 dashboard. The ZOLL AED 3 reports over your site Wi-Fi to ZOLL PlusTrac. The Mindray carries an eight-year warranty at $2,345, the AED 3 seven years at $2,895.

Mindray C1A 4G Connected Defibrillator

Carries its own mobile connection

The C1A 4G suits sites where the network is the problem: a car park, a warehouse, a remote depot, or units spread across several towns. It talks to the dashboard over mobile coverage, so nobody has to put a defibrillator on the corporate network.

  • It reports in without your Wi-FiThe 4G cellular connection comes with a free eight-year data plan, so the unit sends its status from anywhere with mobile coverage. No network login and no IT ticket.
  • The dashboard watches the dates for youAED-Alert 2.0 gathers every unit into one online view, sends battery and pad reminders and fault notifications, and flags a unit that has been moved. Automatic self-tests take the place of visual maintenance checks.
  • The first shock lands in under eight secondsQShock delivers the first shock in under 8 seconds, and the unit raises the energy for later shocks if needed. Adult energy is configurable from 200 to 360 joules.
  • Guidance pitched at whoever is kneeling thereResQNavi gives real-time voice and on-screen guidance tailored to the pace and experience of the person doing the compressions.
  • Five years between consumable changes, eight years of coverBattery and pads both last five years, the warranty runs eight, and an IP55 rating means dust is kept out and low-pressure water jets will not stop it, indoors or out.

ZOLL AED 3 Fully Automatic Defibrillator

Wi-Fi reporting, plus feedback on every compression

The AED 3 suits a managed building or campus with Wi-Fi throughout and a facilities team behind it. It is the unit to pick when CPR quality matters as much as the readiness log, because it coaches the rescuer as they work.

  • It tells the rescuer how the compressions are goingReal CPR Help gives real-time audible feedback on each compression, so the person kneeling there is told what to change rather than left guessing.
  • It uses the network you already runProgram Management Onboard connects the unit over Wi-Fi to ZOLL PlusTrac AED program management, and ZOLL states that no maintenance inspections are needed.
  • One pad set covers adults and childrenCPR Uni-padz are universal. For a child you reposition the pads and select child mode, so there is no second pad set to buy or watch for expiry.
  • Nobody has to press shockRapid Shock Analysis reads the rhythm and the unit is fully automatic, so it warns everyone to stand clear and delivers the shock itself. A semi automatic version is available on request.
  • Five-year consumables, seven-year warrantyThe battery is $226 with a five-year installed life and the CPR Uni-padz are $226 with a five-year shelf life and a rescue accessory kit. The warranty runs seven years, five on the battery and pads.

Which connected unit suits your site

Start with the building and the people, not the brochure. Three situations cover most of the calls we take.

The car park, warehouse or remote yard

The unit needs to live where the people are, and that is where the Wi-Fi gives out. Putting a defibrillator on the corporate network is its own small project, and often the answer is no.

Choose the Mindray C1A 4G. It carries its own mobile connection and the eight-year data plan is included, so it reports from wherever you mount it.

The foyer where anyone might be the rescuer

Reception staff, a contractor, a visitor. Whoever is closest gets there first, and they have probably not practised compressions since a course years ago. Depth and rate are where untrained CPR falls down.

Choose the ZOLL AED 3. Real CPR Help listens to each compression and coaches out loud, and the unit delivers the shock itself.

Twenty units across several states

One person owns the register, the sites are hundreds of kilometres apart, and the honest answer to "when was unit 14 last checked" is nobody knows. Expiry dates are what catch people out.

Choose the Mindray C1A 4G. AED-Alert 2.0 puts every unit on one dashboard with replacement reminders, and quantity pricing applies across the fleet.

Still shortlisting? Our Mindray vs LIFEPAK page puts the C1A 4G against the other cellular unit we stock, and the ZOLL vs Elliot page compares the AED 3 with the lightest defibrillator in the range. Our ZOLL AED Plus vs ZOLL AED 3 page covers the choice inside the ZOLL range itself.

Questions people ask before they order

Does the Mindray C1A 4G need Wi-Fi to report its status?

No. The 4G version carries its own mobile connection and comes with a free eight-year data plan, so it reports to the AED-Alert 2.0 dashboard from anywhere with mobile coverage. That suits car parks, warehouses and remote depots. The ZOLL AED 3 reports over site Wi-Fi instead, through Program Management Onboard to ZOLL PlusTrac, which suits a building that already has coverage everywhere.

Which costs less to keep running, the Mindray C1A or the ZOLL AED 3?

Both run on five-year consumables, so the replacement cycle is the same. The Mindray C Series battery is $395 and a pair of MR62 pads is $120, which is $515 a cycle. The ZOLL AED 3 battery is $226 and the CPR Uni-padz are $226, which is $452. Mindray also discounts on quantities, so ask for a fleet quote.

Can the Mindray and the ZOLL defibrillator be used on a child?

Yes, both. The Mindray C1A has a child mode button and uses the same MR62 pads for adults and children, delivering 35 to 90 joules in child mode. The ZOLL AED 3 uses universal CPR Uni-padz: reposition the pads and select child mode. Neither unit needs a separate paediatric pad set, which is one less item to store and watch for expiry.

Do you still have to inspect a connected defibrillator every month?

Connected units are built to take that job off someone's list. The Mindray C1A runs daily, weekly and monthly self-tests, and its automatic reporting takes the place of visual maintenance checks. ZOLL states that no maintenance inspections are needed on the AED 3. Most sites still glance at the cabinet on their first aid round, which keeps the unit in people's heads.

Are the Mindray C1A and the ZOLL AED 3 available semi automatic?

Yes. The models listed in the shop are fully automatic, which means the unit warns everyone to stand clear and delivers the shock itself. Both product pages say a semi automatic version is available, where the unit charges and then tells the rescuer to press the shock button. No price is published for the semi automatic units, so call 1300 720 024 and we will quote one.
