ZOLL mode comparison

ZOLL AED Plus semi vs fully automatic: one defibrillator, two modes

Identical hardware, identical consumables. The only difference is whether the unit shocks, or asks you to press.

You have settled on the ZOLL AED Plus, and then the shop shows you one listing while the product page mentions a semi automatic version you cannot add to a cart. That is the ZOLL AED Plus semi vs fully automatic question, and it is simpler than it looks. Both are the same defibrillator. Semi automatic means the unit charges and then asks a person to press the flashing shock button. Fully automatic means it delivers the shock itself, once it has warned everyone to stand clear. Integrity HS was founded by intensive care paramedics, and this is the call we take most often about the AED Plus.

What is the difference between the ZOLL AED Plus semi and fully automatic models?

Both are the same ZOLL AED Plus. The fully automatic version analyses the rhythm and delivers the shock itself. The semi automatic version charges and waits for the rescuer to press the shock button. Real CPR Help, the seven-year warranty and consumables are identical. Fully automatic is $2,295; semi automatic is ordered by phone.

ZOLL AED Plus Fully Automatic Defibrillator

The version stocked in our shop

The fully automatic model suits any place where the first person to reach the patient could be anybody: a shop floor, a reception desk, a clubroom, a warehouse on night shift. Nobody has to decide when the shock goes.

  • The unit takes the hardest decisionIt reads the rhythm, tells everyone to stand clear and delivers the shock on its own, so an untrained rescuer is never left staring at a button.
  • It tells you if you are pushing hard enoughReal CPR Help reads a sensor in the pads and shows compression depth on a bar gauge, while an adaptive metronome keeps the rate at 100 a minute or better.
  • Five years between battery changesIt runs on ten 123A lithium cells with a five-year shelf life in the unit, and a sleeve of ten costs $112.20.
  • Seven years of manufacturer coverSeven years on the unit and five on the battery and pads, from a model that has been in service since 2002.
  • Ready to mount the day it landsThe box holds the adult CPR-D-padz, ten lithium batteries, a soft carry case, the manual and a basic life support poster.

ZOLL AED Plus Semi Automatic Defibrillator

The same unit with a shock button

The semi automatic model suits workplaces that train a named first aid team and write the response into a procedure. A trained officer confirms nobody is touching the patient, then presses the button themselves.

  • Your rescuer chooses the momentThe unit analyses, charges and then asks for the button, so a trained first aider controls exactly when the shock is delivered.
  • The same coaching through the padsReal CPR Help sits in the CPR-D-padz rather than in the shock mode, so the depth bar gauge, the voice prompts and the metronome behave the same way.
  • One set of spares covers both modesThe same $190 CPR-D-padz and the same $112.20 sleeve of ten 123A batteries, so a site running both stocks one shelf of consumables.
  • Children handled the same wayFit Pedi-padz II for a child under 8 or under 25 kg and the unit switches to its paediatric algorithm, exactly as the fully automatic model does.
  • A person on the phone, not a checkoutThis version is not listed online, so you ring us and we confirm price, quantity and delivery before anything is committed.

ZOLL AED Plus semi vs fully automatic, row by row

The first three rows are the whole decision. Everything under them is the same unit, which is why this choice is about your people rather than the specification.

Who will reach the patient first

Mode matters most when you picture the person who actually opens the case. Three situations cover most of the calls we take about the AED Plus.

The night shift with one person on the floor

At two in the morning there may be one other person in the building, and they will be doing compressions when the unit tells them to stop and stand clear. Asking them to find a button at that moment adds a step nobody rehearsed.

Choose the fully automatic. It delivers the shock on its own, so the only job left is good compressions.

The first aid room with a rostered officer

Some workplaces train a named team, run drills and write the sequence into a procedure. Those teams usually want a person to confirm that nobody is touching the patient before the shock goes.

Choose the semi automatic. The unit charges and asks, and your trained officer picks the moment.

The order that has to clear procurement this month

A requisition needs a price, a product and a delivery date before anyone signs it. The semi automatic version has no published price, so the quote starts with a phone call rather than a cart.

Choose the fully automatic. It is $2,295, in stock and simple to quote today.

Still weighing up the range? Our ZOLL AED Plus vs ZOLL AED 3 page covers the newer model, our fully automatic vs semi automatic defibrillator page looks at shock mode across every brand we stock, and ZOLL vs Elliot sets the AED Plus beside the lightest unit we hold.

Common questions about the AED Plus

Is the ZOLL AED Plus semi or fully automatic?

It comes both ways. The version listed in the Integrity HS shop is the fully automatic ZOLL AED Plus, which delivers the shock itself once it has told everyone to stand clear. ZOLL also builds a semi automatic version of the same unit, where the rescuer presses the flashing shock button. Call 1300 720 024 to order that one.

Why is there no online price for the semi automatic model?

The semi automatic version is not listed in the online shop, so no price is published for it. The product page asks buyers to contact Integrity HS on 1300 720 024 instead. Ring us and we confirm the price and availability for the quantity you need. The fully automatic model is $2,295, with free shipping.

Do both modes use the same pads and batteries?

Yes. Both take the one-piece ZOLL CPR-D Plus Padz adult electrodes at $190, which carry a five-year shelf life, and both run on ten 123A lithium cells sold as a sleeve of ten for $112.20. Pedi-padz II paediatric electrodes at $113 fit either. A site running both modes only needs one set of spares on the shelf.

Does Real CPR Help work the same in both modes?

Yes. Real CPR Help lives in the CPR-D-padz, not in the shock mode. A sensor in the pads measures each compression, a bar gauge on the unit shows how deep you are pushing, and an adaptive metronome holds the rate at 100 compressions a minute or faster. Audio and text prompts run alongside it on both versions.

What does it cost to keep a ZOLL AED Plus ready to use?

There are two consumables. The adult CPR-D Plus Padz are $190 and carry a five-year shelf life, and a sleeve of ten 123A lithium batteries is $112.20, also good for five years in the unit. Sites with children usually add Pedi-padz II at $113, which have a two-year shelf life.
