HeartSine comparison

HeartSine 360P vs 500P: the same defibrillator, one big difference

Both weigh 1.1 kg and share one Pad-Pak. The 500P coaches your CPR and asks you to press shock.

You have settled on HeartSine, and now you are staring at two units that look identical on the shelf and sit $490 apart on the invoice. The HeartSine 360P vs 500P question comes up on most of the calls we take about this range, and it has a short, clear answer. The two share a body, a rating, a warranty and a cartridge. They differ in what happens during CPR and in who presses the shock button. Once you know which of those matters at your site, the choice makes itself.

What is the difference between the HeartSine 360P and 500P?

The HeartSine Samaritan 360P and 500P share the same 1.1 kg body, IP56 rating, eight-year warranty and Pad-Pak cartridge. The 500P adds CPR Advisor, which measures your compressions through the pads and tells you to push harder, and it is semi automatic, so the rescuer presses the shock button. The 360P delivers the shock itself.

HeartSine Samaritan 360P Fully Automatic Defibrillator

Fully automatic, nothing to press

The 360P suits places where whoever is nearest will be the rescuer: a clubroom, a reception desk, a school office or a workshop. It talks the person through each step and delivers the shock on its own when one is needed.

  • Nobody has to press shockFully automatic operation means the unit analyses the heart, warns everyone to stand clear and shocks by itself. There is no button for a shaken bystander to hesitate over.
  • One cartridge, one date to watchThe Pad-Pak holds the battery and the pads together, lasts four years and carries a single expiry date, so there is one part to reorder and one thing to check.
  • Light enough to grab and goAt 1.1 kg and 20 x 18.4 x 4.8 cm it lifts off a wall bracket with one hand and fits a glovebox or a kit bag when it needs to travel.
  • Shrugs off dust and sprayIP56 means it is sealed against dust and against water sprayed from any direction, and it works from 0°C to 50°C. It is also aircraft and marine compliant.
  • Eight years of cover, plus a free Pad-Pak after a rescueThe manufacturer warranty runs eight years, and HeartSine replaces the Pad-Pak free after genuine use, conditions apply.

HeartSine Samaritan 500P with CPR Advisor Defibrillator

Semi automatic, with live CPR coaching

The 500P suits sites with trained first aid officers, or anywhere the quality of the CPR matters as much as the shock: gyms, sports facilities, larger workplaces and aged care. It measures each compression and tells the rescuer how they are doing.

  • Coaching based on real blood flowCPR Advisor reads the chest through the pads using an impedance cardiogram and says "Push harder" or confirms good compressions, so the rescuer is not guessing at depth or rate.
  • You decide when the shock goesThe 500P is semi automatic. It analyses, charges and tells you to press the shock button when a shock is needed, which some workplace policies and trained teams prefer.
  • The same body as the 360P1.1 kg, 20 x 18.4 x 4.8 cm and an IP56 rating, so it mounts on the same bracket, fits the same cabinet and lives in the same conditions.
  • Tells you it is ready every weekA status indicator flashes to show the whole system is operational, and the unit runs its own self-check every week, so a glance at the wall is a real check.
  • Same cartridge, same eight-year warrantyIt uses the identical Pad-Pak with a four-year life and one expiry date, and carries the same eight-year manufacturer warranty as the 360P.

Which HeartSine suits your site

Think about who will be holding the unit when it matters. That decides this comparison far more than the spec sheet does.

The reception desk or clubroom cupboard

The rescuer could be anyone: a volunteer, a visitor, a casual on their first shift. Nobody has done CPR training this year and nobody wants to be the one who pressed a button at the wrong moment.

Choose the 360P. Fully automatic operation takes the shock decision away from the bystander, and the voice prompts and metronome carry them through the rest.

The workplace with trained first aid officers

You run a first aid roster, staff refresh their CPR every year, and your safety policy expects a trained person to make the call on a shock. What you want from the unit is help doing good CPR under pressure.

Choose the 500P. CPR Advisor tells the rescuer to push harder when compressions are too shallow, and the semi automatic shock button matches how your team has been trained.

The boat, caravan or remote site

Help is a long way off, the unit lives in spray and dust, and the person using it may be the patient's partner or a mate. Every extra decision in that moment is a cost.

Choose the 360P. It is aircraft and marine compliant, sealed to IP56, and it makes the shock decision itself, so the rescuer only has to follow the voice.

Weighing HeartSine against other brands? Our HeartSine vs Elliot page puts the 500P beside the lightest unit we stock, and our HeartSine Pad-Pak page covers the cartridge both units share. Our semi automatic defibrillator page explains the shock button the 500P asks you to press.

Questions people ask before choosing between them

Is the HeartSine 500P fully automatic?

No. The HeartSine Samaritan 500P is semi automatic. It analyses the heart rhythm, charges when a shock is needed and then tells the rescuer to press the shock button. The HeartSine Samaritan 360P is the fully automatic model in the range and delivers the shock itself after warning everyone to stand clear. Both talk the rescuer through every step.

Do the HeartSine 360P and 500P use the same Pad-Pak?

Yes. Both units take the HeartSine Pad-Pak, a single cartridge that holds the battery and the electrode pads with one expiry date and a four-year life. The adult Pad-Pak 03 is $249 and the Paediatric Pad-Pak 04 is $299, and either fits the 350P, 360P and 500P. A site running both models only needs to stock one spare.

How much more does the HeartSine 500P cost than the 360P?

The HeartSine Samaritan 360P is $1,575 and the 500P with CPR Advisor is $2,065, a difference of $490. Both prices include free shipping, and both are reduced from their former prices of $1,995 and $2,695. The extra buys CPR Advisor feedback and semi automatic operation. Ongoing costs are identical because the Pad-Pak and the warranty are the same.

Does the HeartSine 360P give feedback on CPR?

No. The 360P guides CPR with voice prompts and a metronome that sets the compression rate, but it does not measure the compressions. HeartSine reserves CPR Advisor for the 500P, which reads the depth and rate of each compression through the pads and prompts the rescuer to push harder. If coaching on compression quality matters at your site, that is the reason to choose the 500P.

Can the HeartSine 360P or 500P be used on a child?

Yes. Both units are suitable for adults and children. For a child aged 1 to 8, or weighing under 25 kg, fit the HeartSine Paediatric-Pak in place of the adult Pad-Pak. It delivers a lower 50 joule shock and uses smaller pads. Schools, childcare centres and family homes usually keep a Paediatric-Pak alongside the unit so the swap takes seconds.
